Great speech, but the note about the Roman Empire having a “hallow soul” is absurd. To then go on and credit “one man” who saved El Salvador, but cast aside the Empire and not mention “one man” Augustus, is a weak read on recent & ancient history. The story of the Fall of Rome tells us that Rome lost its “soul” when it culturally turned on its head with monotheism & Christianity by the fourth century, concerned with the afterlife, the other, and the lowest-common denominator, instead of the here & now and the heritage of Rome.
